Testimonials

ELC represented a core portion of a large and distributed Ruby on Rails team we assembled in 2006. This team was responsible for the development and deployment of a large Rails application that is live with multiple customers, each of whom does millions of page views per day. ELC’s staff of top-notch developers acted as part of our team from day one, and their extensive Rails experience and development best practices were key in jump-starting our development process.

One of the core reasons we chose ELC was their emphasis on close customer communication; they were active partners in both the planning and architecture processes, as well as maintaining constant communication regarding status and deliverables. ELC’s agile focus matched our own process, and we worked closely together under very tight timelines to deliver a best-in-class product. We continue to rely on ELC as a partner, and strongly recommend them.

ELC's entrepreneur-friendly model gave us a realistic budget for delivering multiple revisions of our desired web services. Seeing early and frequent versions of the service helped reduce execution concerns and allowed us to focus on building our business. Within three weeks, ELC deployed an alpha microsite that handled $250,000 worth of transactions with our target users. This proof-of-concept has been instrumental in our ability to win new business, validate our model and close financing.

Office Arrow engaged ELC for its expertise in Ruby on Rails and social networking applications. The project got off to a great start but later fizzled due to a lack of product leadership by ELC. We ended up feeling very dissatisfied and chose a different direction.

Make sure to ask us about this project and how we changed our business model because of the experience.
We try hard to learn from our mistakes and find high-leverage opportunities for improvement.

I contacted ELC after seeing their work on one of their internal projects--when I spoke to them about our needs they seemed to ‘get it’ very quickly. They proposed a low-risk first delivery to better assess the issues, and to give us something tangible to meet our product roadmap. We interacted daily to converge on the features of the first delivery. We got the delivery on time. Based on our initial experience we were excited to continue our relationship with ELC. Our business is fast-growing and ELC was able to adapt to our need for flexible requirements. I’d recommend ELC to anyone that wants to build a Rails site. They get it. They can help.

- Gary Burke, CTO, TuneCore

We needed to build a new technology platform that would better enable us to rapidly launch niche products regionally or nationally, without affecting the infrastructure that runs our newspaper sites. Standardizing on Ruby on Rails provided the speed and scalability we were seeking. Given our J2EE roots, we brought in ELC for their Ruby development expertise to help us build out features and launch new markets under very aggressive timelines. With ELC’s help, we exceeded our goals, and moved Metromix from a one city product to a separate company within a year.
